Travers Smith announces winners of its 2021/22 CSR Art Programme.

Itamar Freed was the winner in the Alumni Artist category for his hyper-realistic landscapes titled "Oh Deer" and "Orange Tree". Both pieces were co-created with Kristina Chan.

Set up in 2015, the firm's CSR Art Programme supports graduate artists from the University of Westminster and the Royal College of Art (RCA), with the transition from student life to professional practice.

Gallery artist Itamar Freed and contemporary dancer Courtney Scheu (Sunshine Coast) enter the Crows Nest Residency in Australia. The duo will continue their recent Florida Everglades collaboration, exploring tides and a new island habitat to question the distinctions between the natural and artificial, real and manufactured.

Itamar Freed is currently in Residence in Everglades. Spanning the southern tip of the Florida peninsula and most of Florida Bay, Everglades National Park is the only subtropical wilderness in North America. It is known for its rich wildlife, particularly large wading birds, and it is the only place in the world where both alligators and crocodiles coexist. The Everglades National Park Artist in Residence in Everglades (AIRIE) program offers artists the opportunity to live and work in this unique environment for a period of up to one month.

Language shapes our perception of reality. It lets us describe, reflect and recreate.
Past histories, both independent and collective, are shaped and formed in our perception.  Whispering to Venus searches for a new language of reality, one that in its creation rewrites itself, self-referential in its technological reinterpretation of art history’s iconic works.

Itamar Freed, gallery artist, started a BigCi residency at UNESCO World Heritage

August 17, 2017

Itamar Freed, was recently accepted at the prestigious artist residency program, Bilpin International Ground for Creative Initiatives (BigCi) at the UNESCO World Heritage Greater Blue Mountains in Australia.

During his residency, he shall explore environmental and ecological issues, and use the beautiful natural surroundings as a source of creativity in a variety of different artistic pursuits.
